This week I am in the Philippines and I am very excited.

Firstly, I will be meeting two members of the MCG Talent team (Dianne and Sherlaine) who are absolute heroes.

To Manila!

Secondly, I think travel is one of the most underrated tools for career development and business in general.

A wise man once told me that being well travelled puts you in a position where you can hold your own at any table and that you should pursue it aggressively.

I've always found that to be true and that's why it stuck with me.

These places don't come to you and it's a shame in such a connected world not to make the effort.

The depth of perception you get from going to places is wild and not something you can get from sitting behind Teams or Zoom.

It also compounds and opens so many doors in ways I am now finding out you don't realise until years down the line.

Finally, it's also a matter of respect towards both the people we employ and the clients who we're partnered with.

You can’t fully understand someone’s world unless you step into it - even if only for a short while.

Oh and lastly any reccomodations for Manila will be greatly appreciated 🇵🇭

In the meantime, here’s our priority roles for the week 😎

FAQ - How’s the Market Looking? - October 2025

Our most frequently asked question. It’s hard to be specific as we work across multiple markets and verticals but the general gist is that we remain in a client-driven market.

Put simply: Supply (applicants looking) outweighs demand (jobs available).

This tighter market is reflected in the downward results of the large Recruitment PLCs and something we anticipate to carry over into the first part of 2026.

Our advice is to stay consistent, build an online presence and go off-LinkedIn as much as possible when applying for new positions.

Whatever you answered, stay strong - We’ve previously written about the importance of staying visible, patience and breaking through in crowded markets.

P.S. Here’s how you can unlock a 30 minute 1:1 call with me and the team.
