You’re Only Seeing 1% of Jobs

The problem with the job market at the moment is that too many people approach it solely focussed on what is happening 𝘵𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺

It’s either people who want to be here and they want to be here now, or people that have been impacted by lay-offs find themselves in need of a quick resolution.

Whatever the approach it’s a super tactical one and led by one-time actions that neglect what might be coming around the corner.

Think about it.

Applying to a job on LinkedIn only puts you in consideration for that one role that is available in the market at that given date.

What about the day after tomorrow? Or the day after that?

I know the LinkedIn platform better than most and what most people don’t realise is that 99% of the time it operates completely independently from any CRM have a company might have.

If you apply to a role with a company through LinkedIn, it’s not going to keep you on file for future roles that might come up within the same organization.

So what’s the solution and how do we approach this?

My take would be to shift your approach from trying to get ahold of what is available right now to putting yourself in contention for what is going to be available both now and also over the new few months.

Rome wasn't built in a day and the GCC markets are notorious for moving at their own (usually slower) pace.

I’ve mentioned on here before about an interview process I facilitated that started in February and ended with an offer being extended in October. That’s unusual, but not uncommon.

What we want to do is adopt a more strategic mindset that makes u part of a network and keep our application on file for future consideration from a company or any other roles that might be available on the hidden job market.

We want this because there are more jobs 𝗡𝗢𝗧 advertised than there are live on LinkedIn at any given moment.

What you have access to on Job Boards or LinkedIn is the absolute tip of the iceberg of what’s available.

To advertise online is costly and inefficient for companies.

They’d much rather leverage their own network (with the added benefit of social proof) and headhunt directly than have to sift through hundreds of applicants.
