One of the biggest pushbacks we get in the world of Recruitment is that it's very hard to get through to Recruiters. This newsletter is our attempt to bridge that gap.

Hello all, it’s Charlie from MCG Talent here.

Wanted to take a slight breakaway from our usual content to try and get your opinion on things. As above, the perception of Recruiters in the market is that they are very elusive and hard to get hold of.

From our side, it's no way intentional for us to be avoiding you, it's just near impossible to get back to everyone given the sheer volume of inbound activity we get every day.

For every job we have live, we get over a thousand applicants directly through LinkedIn, hundreds through our website and social platforms and then even more from previous contacts we have an open correspondence with.

If I had a team of five Charlies (terrifying thought - I know) it still wouldn't be enough to get back to everyone that reaches out.

This is even further complicated by this simple fact. Regardless of how many people apply for a role, only one person can get the job.

If every job that we posted received five-hundred applicants (it’s usually double or treble this) then it would be a ratio of 1 happy individual to 499 unhappy individuals.

That’s a problem and one we are trying to address front-on.

So, we've come up with a middle ground approach that brings a lot more transparency to the process and hopefully gives a bit of insight on the way.

Here’s how we’re going to try and help you.

It’s far too common for people to feel lost and disenfranchised when they’re searching for a new role.

We want to try and turn this on its head.

Every week, we'll be sending out this newsletter to everyone with a bit of commentary on the market, some helpful tips, and a couple of priority jobs we'll need your help with.

Instead of having to check in for potential updates, we'll bring them straight to you.

While we’re not able to help everyone directly, we want to try and be of assistance to you and your job search.

Our thinking is that this is where we can add the most value as most people do not get a role through a Recruiter.

Even if you do manage to get the attention of a Recruiter it’s by no means a golden ticket to a new position.

We merely guide people through processes which are highly competitive and impacted by any number of variables.

However, we do have a very good oversight of the job market and how it works.

Our goal is to try and equip you with a set of tools that can help shorten the job searching process.

We have offices spread across MENA and APAC including in key financial centers like Dubai, Riyadh, Singapore and Hong Kong and are proven leaders in the market. We know our stuff.

Our commitment to you is this: every week, we will bring you a no-fluff, honest take of the market and how you can better position yourself within it.

It will be authentic (no Chat GPT – I promise) and it might challenge some of your pre-held beliefs on the way that finding a new job works.

We will try to keep these holistic so that they are relevant both to the markets we operate, but also to best practices worldwide for any international subscribers.

You can check out some of the previous stuff we’ve put out here with contributors ranging from our Global CEO, Justin McGuire, our Marketing Manager, Sarah Doherty and a couple from myself.

Over the past two months, we’ve onboarded several thousands of new subscribers to this newsletter, and we look forward to growing this community and getting to know you even better.

If you think that anything you read is of value and you’d like to share it, then we have rolled out a referral program with incentives proportionate to the subscribers you bring in.

This week we have also launched our 2024 Salary Survey guide for the MENA region which can be accessed here.

We are also in the process of putting together a completely free CV Guide and Template.

So, as 2024 kicks off, we’d also like to put things over to you:
