Leave this in 2024

One thing has become incredibly clear coming out of 2024 and entering 2025.

Authenticity can't be faked and it's becoming even more of a powerful differentiator - especially when it comes to standing out in a crowded job market.

People love the example that the average hiring manager spends 7-8 seconds looking at a CV before making a decision (I think it’s less) but what about the content we consume?

In our increasingly digital world the trigger point for a decision on most short-form content is probably 3-5 seconds.

In that time we make a snap decision on whether to continue or scroll to the next option.

We’re judgemental and increasingly prioritising quality where we have such an abundance of choice.

Yet, at the same time we exist in a vicious cycle, where we’re being pushed towards convenience with AI tools that flesh out messages for us at the click of a button.

The problem is this.

What they produce (when it comes to generated content) is not good and more importantly, it’s not you.

When it comes to building a personal brand, standing out on LinkedIn requires genuine interactions, not just reliance on the latest tools.

As great as they are, their pitfalls are obvious.

→ It's blatantly obvious if you're using Chat GPT for your content - (no one uses this emoji 💫 but it’s everywhere on my LinkedIn feed).
