How to get a Hiring Manager’s attention

Getting someone’s attention in a crowded space is hard. Here’s three ways you can stand out above the crowd.

This week’s edition of The Inner Circle is written by Justin McGuire, CEO of MCG Talent.

Trying to attract a recruiter's attention is even more difficult in the Middle East, where the sheer volume of applicants right now is unlike anything like we have seen before.

Yesterday alone - I had 300 messages to my LinkedIn inbox, on top of emails, messages, whatsapp, calls and anything else.

If I took one minute to respond to everyone (ignoring subsequent replies) that would be five hours of my day gone.

I just can’t get back to everyone and also, I don’t recruit many roles these days - the team does. I work on the day-to-day and building out client relationships.

A message I seem to get regularly is people asking me to talk to them and tell them about the market as they might consider a move one day but nothing specific.

Another is to read their CV and give pointers or even to meet for a coffee to talk about the market.

I don’t have the time and never will. This is an unfortunate reality of working in a very busy and saturated market.

What I can offer is three effective ways to get a Hiring Manager or Recruiter’s attention and navigate the job market here in the GCC.
