Beyond Dubai
This post comes from a place of insane privilege but I think it's worth having a conversation about.
If you want to move abroad, I'd recommend looking around Dubai and not just putting all your eggs in one basket.
I was going through the inbox over the weekend and was struck by how many people had reached out since the start of the year.
The weighting was 95% Dubai oriented and it got me thinking... why???
Ok, yes, I'm based in Dubai but the roles we are working at the moment are fairly evenly spread across the GCC.
Outside of Dubai we have live positions in Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Riyadh, Manama and Jeddah.
When I put these locations to people instead of Dubai, I’m usually instantly shot down and I can’t help but feel it’s a touch short-sighted.
Don't get me wrong, it's great living in Dubai.
But to take the example of Doha and Abu Dhabi as:
↳ Tax-Free and offer the same climate.
↳ Less saturated markets with slightly higher packages on offer on the whole.
↳ Offer the same standard of living.
↳ Also served by world class international airlines.
↳ All an hour away from each other (Qatar by ✈️ obvs, AD by car)
Now you could probably make an argument for including places like Manama and Riyadh into the equation also.
